The Need
- 75% of 17 and 18 year olds think about the future several times per week, and half of them think about it every day (Barna Research Group).
- Teenagers today are coming to the age of adulthood and are either standing dumbfounded as they search the vast sea of possibilities, or jumping headlong into any field they feel has the potential to ultimately bring happiness.
- This truly is a time in ones life when they possess the health, freedom and ability to explore endless adventures. Unfortunately, only 29% feel like they are well prepared to live life as an adult (Barna Research Group). So many of them lack guidance and motivation to accomplish their goals.
- Although half of the 26 million people between 18 – 24 are still in the educational process, our esteem of the academic world is not filling the void of our spiritual ineptness (US Dept. of Education).
- Without clearly defined purpose, young adults flounder through their early twenties trying to find a niche and identity. It is only through obtaining a solid foundation that one can stand up and not be drawn away into the humanistic ideologies bombarding our culture.
- 80% of professing Christian students who enter the college campus will fall away from their relationship with God before graduation (Barna Research Group).
- Thousands of people testify to falling away from God during their college years only later to realize their mistakes, turn from their sin and then live with regrets throughout life.
- What we desperately need are young adults who can and will go into the world, ready to boldly stand for truth. Currently, only 6% of all teenagers believe moral truth is unchanging (Barna Research Group). When these teenagers taste the freedom of leaving their homes and youth groups, the majority of them will no doubt plummet into an inevitable downward spiral.
This is why God is raising up programs like Radical Action Disciples. We offer a safe place for these young adults to discover why, where and what their purpose is all about.
People entering the world of adulthood need to be properly equipped to fix their eyes on a goal, overcome temptations, and model an uncompromising walk with Jesus Christ.
So many are longing for purpose.
So many are wasting their potential.
So many are yet unreached.
