Thoughts from Josh
Many people wonder, does God speak? The answer is: absolutely! He has many different ways of speaking. Some of the ways include through the Holy Bible, other people, or world events. Before I came to RAD, I was one of those people who asked, does God speak? In the past 4 months I’ve been able to listen to and understand the sound of God’s voice clearly.
Since God wants me to be pure, clean, and perfect in His way, He’s been bringing a lot of stuff to the surface. What I mean is I’m very dirty. I’ve allowed Satan talk to me and tell me lies for many years. Satan has been telling me that I’m not worth anything, that I need to give up, that I’m never going to make it in life. This is what my definition of rejection is. I’ve allowed myself to believe that for many years. God wants to clean me. He is showing me that I do have a purpose. Back in November I asked God who I was in His eyes. He gave me the name Prince Charming.
I’ve also been dealing with a lot of pride that is trying to take over my life. I’m learning it’s hard to admit that I’m broke and accept other people paying my way. For many years, today’s society tells us that “the guy has to pay for everything.” So I’ve believed that. I feel when I can’t pay for my own thing I’m worthless. God wants to close that door that has caused me so much pain.
Right now I’m on a three day fast to allow God to take pride and rejection away from me. As I surrender to Him, I’ve been praying to continue my fast for a couple more days for some relationships I have back home that I feel need to be grown.
I’ve been reading the book of Ephesians and Hebrews lately. Also, as a group we’ve been reading the book of Romans. Here are a couple of the verses that have been sticking out as I continue reading these books.
Ephesians 6:10,14 “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place.”
Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do no see.”
Romans 8:36 “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
